Kidney Stone Center of Excellence

Affecting both women and men, kidney stones can be severely painful and demand immediate attention. But early diagnosis is recommended regardless of pain level.

Diagnosis and treatment

We diagnose and stage cancers using the most current professional guidelines. We perform diagnostic procedures using sonographic and fluoroscopic imaging, as well as many types of biopsies, in our state-of-the-art facility. In our tailored approach, treatment options and recommendations always take into consideration the patient’s age, general health, lifestyle and schedule—even particular fears or concerns about treatment outcomes and side effects.Consultations are discrete, in a quiet setting, and follow-up appointments are designed to minimize anxiety, in a friendly, comfortable environment with minimal wait time. When complex initial treatment is warranted, our academic affiliations allow patients access to the Northeast’s top oncology surgeons and radiation treatment centers.

Our facility is JCAHO accredited for anesthesia and our board-certified anesthesiologists can administer full sedation for an urgent or emergent stent placement to unblock a kidney that is obstructed by a stone. In certain cases, definitive in-office stone therapy is available.
